"A few years ago, midway through 1994, I had the idea of organizing an exhibition that would show the incursion into the world of photography of Picasso, Miró, Dalí, and Tàpies, to my mind the four most important Spanish artists of the century. It occurred to me at the time to propose that instead of presenting a one-off event there'd be four shows, each of limited scope, simultaneously housed by the Museo Picasso, the Fundación Miró, the Fundación Tàpies and the Teatro-Museo Dalí. ...to lend more coherence to this four-hander I chose series whose genesis dates from the one period: the beginning of the 60s. This further coincidence enables us, firstly, to reflect the creativity with which the three artists used the photographic resources at their disposal, and secondly, the way in which the final results contribute to the expressive evolution of the photographic language of the period."--from the introduction.
