Jeff Achey, winner of the 1997 Nike Earthwrite Award, spent 9 years working for Climbing magazine as a book reviewer and photo editor. He has made first ascents from Boulder to Black Canyon and has been climbing in Colorado since 1976. He currently works as a freelance writer and photographer.

Dudley Chelton is a professor of oceanography at Oregon State University.
