I hardly ever read biographies, but my personal affinity with FT made me step out of my habits. As a biography, it might be a quite conventional (and a doorstop, no question); but it is well informed, and authored by two experts on French cinema, who know their subject matter very well. Antoine do Baecque is Editor-in-Chief of Cahiers du Cinéma. He is at work on a book about French New Wave cinema. Serge Toubiana has headed Cahiers du Cinéma since 1981. In 1993, he codirected a documentary titled François Truffaut: Stolen Portraits.
