SCARCE, owing to the steps for its suppression taken by the Commonwealth Government, which was violently opposed to Hobbes' advocacy of unlimited power for princes. So rigid was the censorship that even Pepys was constrained to pay his bookseller an advance of 300 per cent. on the original price September 3d, 1668. The present copy has the folding diagram.
