2 In tender infancy, his care

Preserv'd our lives from harm;
And now he keeps us from the snare

Of sin's deceitful charm.
3 He gently draws our minds to hear

The kind instructions given ;
And by his reverential lear

We seek the way to heaven. 4 He gives us friends, who seek our good,

And strive to make (3 wise ;
His bounteous hand provides our food,

And all our wants supplies.
5 With grateful praise we will proclaim

The mercies of our God:
And tell of all his wondrous fame,

Who bought us with his blood.

REDEMPTION.

Plung's in a gulf of dark despair,

We wretched sinnere lay,
Without one chuering beam of hope,

Or spark of glimm'ring day.

2 With pitying eyes, tho Prince of Grace

Beheld our helpless grief;
He saw, and (0, amazing lore!)

He ran to our relief,
3 Down from the shining seats above,

With joyful haste he fled, Enter'd the grave in mortal flesh,

And dwelt among the dead.
4 O, for this love, let rocks and hills

Their lasting silence break,
And all harmonious human tongros
The Saviour's praises speak.

8, 7, 4, Mighty God, while angels bless thoe,

May an infant lisp thy name?
Lord of men as well as angels,
Thou art ev'ry creature's theme.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, praise the Lord. 2 Lord of every land and nation,

Ancient of eternal days,
Sounded through the wide crcation,

Be :hy just and lawful praise. 3 For the grandeur of thy nature,

Grand beyond a seraph's thought,
For created works of power,

Works with skill and kindness wrought; 4 For thy providenco that governs,

Through thine empire's wide domain, Winge an angel, guides a sparrow ;

Blessed be thy gentle reign. 5 But thy rich, thy free redemption,

Dark through brightness all along; Thought is poor, and poor expression,

Who can sing that awful song? 6 Brightness of thy Father's glory,

Shall thy praise unutter'd lio?
Fly my tongue such guilty silence,

Sing the Lord who came to die. 7 Did archangels sing thy coming?

Did the Shepherds learn their lays ? Shame would cover mc, ungrateful,

Should my tongue refuse to praise. 8 From the highest throne of glory,

To tho cross of deepest wo!
For such love to guilty captives,

May thy praise for ever flow. 9 Risc, ascend, immortal Saviour,

Leave thy footstool, take thy throne; Thence return, and reign for ever,

Be the kingdom all thinc own.

Hail, gracious heavenly Prince,

To Thee let children fly;
And on thy kindest providence,

O inay we all rely.
2 Jesus will take the young

Beneath his special care;
And he will keep their youthfui days

From every wo and snare. 3 He knows their tender frame,

Nor will their youth contemn; For he a little child became,

To love and pity them. 4 Nor does he now forget

His youthful days on carth ;
Nor would we ever cease our praise,
For the Redeemer's birth.

Joy to the world,--the Lord is come;

Let earth receivo her King,
Let every heart prepare him roon,

And heaven and nature sing.
2 Joy to the earth,--the Saviour roigns;

Let ehildren songs eniploy!
While fields and fiuods, rocks, hills and

plains,
Repeat the sounding joy.

3 No more let sins and sorrows grow,

Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make his blessings flow

Far as the curse is found. 4 He rules ine world with truth and grace,

And makes the nations prove
The gluries of his righteousness,

And wonders of his love.

Father, how wide thy glory shines !

How high thy wonders rise !
Known through the earth by thousand

signs,
By thousands thrcugh the skies.
2 But when we view thy strange design,

To save rebellious worms,
There vengeance and compassion join,

In their divinest forms.
3 How the full glories of the Lamb

Adorn the heavenly plains !
Sweet cherubs learn Immanuel's namo,

And try thoir choicest strains. 4 O may I bear some humble part

In that immortal song :
Wonder and joy shall tune my heart,

And love command my tongue.
