THE first edition of this work was published without a Vocabulary, as the editor deemed it desirable to encourage the student to use a general dictionary. At the request, however, of numerous teachers, a special vocabulary is now added for the benefit of those who take only a limited course of Latin study.

In this edition, as in the former, I have been greatly aided by my friend, Mr. Edward H. Cutler, of the Providence High School.
