Hensy Burton (1578-1648) was tutor to Sir Robert Carey's sons, and Clerk of the Closet to Prince Henry. He offended Charles I. by accusing Laud of Popery. In 1636 he was tried in the Star Chamber, and sentenced to deprivation, pillory, degradation, loss of ears, fine, and perpetual imprisonment. He was, however, freed by Parliament in 1640.
