THE EXTREMELY RARE FIRST EDITION. There is no pagination, and the signatures are very irregular. The present copy is fine and perfect throughout. A former owner has written on title and there are a few marginal scorings.

This work is a defence, in allegory, of the Catholic party in Queen Mary's reign, the flies representing the Catholics and the spiders, the Protestants.

97. HEYWOOD (THOMAS). The Foure Prentises of London. With the Conquest of Jerusalem. Large woodcut on title. Small 4to, full calf, gilt edges, by Riviere. The outer margin of title has been restored, as have also two or three leaves, slightly affecting some letters. Printed at London by Nicholas Okes, 1632 SECOND EDITION of what is probably one of the earliest of Heywood's dramas. It was acted as early as 1610, and was first published in 1615.

COBDEN SANDERSON'S OWN BINDING OF HEINE 100. HEINE (HEINRICH). Buch der Lieder. 8vo, blue levant morocco, the sides and back completely covered with delicate gold floral tooling, with the title and the name of the person for whom the binding was executed, worked in among the flowers on the front cover, gilt edges. A MAGNIFICENT SPECIMEN OF THIS MASTER BINDER'S WORK, not to be confused with the work of the Doves Bindery, the designs only of these latter being by the master.

On the dentelle on the inside back cover appears the binder's name and date, and on the end fly-leaf is the following note by him: "Buch der Lieder. Bound by me for Emilia Cimino at Goodyers T. J. Cobden Sanderson."

The volume is further enhanced by the autograph inscription of the celebrated French Sculptor, Rodin, which appears on the front fly-leaf: "La Vie est un don inappréciable qu'elle est belle bonne et suffit pour rendre heureux tous ceux qui s'entrainment à la voir. Rodin. Avril,

THE FIRST COMPLETE EDITION, AND VERY RARE. As the editions of this important work from the Caxton and Wynken de Worde presses are practically unobtainable in fine and perfect state, it follows that this is the only available edition. The present is in very good condition, except for the last leaf, with colophon, which is in splendid facsimile, as well as a slight restoration to title.

THIS WORK CONTAINS THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF MUSIC IN PRINT IN ANY ENGLISH BOOK.
