The title has been extended on inner margin, and a small bit of the last leaf has been repaired. With bookplates of Thos. Gaisford, Mainsforth Library, and Huth.

From the library of E. M. Cox, with his bookplate and notation at the end: "Beyond the mending of a very few blank margins there are no defects in this copy, there being no facsimile or pen work of any kind."

A VERY LARGE COPY OF THIS EXCESSIVELY RARE LITTLE VOLUME, UNWASHED, AND WITH THE PORTRAIT IN MOST BRILLIANT STATE. Size 5% x 3 9/16 inches.

There are only two things which might be exaggerated into blemishes, namely, the bottom blank margin of one leaf is about 4 inch shorter than the rest of the book, and a small irregularity, probably caused by a burn, occurs in a portion of the blank foreedges. These latter have not been repaired, but simply gilded over.

Contains three pieces, consisting of THE TRUE FIRST EDITION of "Clio's Protest: or, the Pieture Varnished," by Sheridan; "The Bath Picture," by Miles Peter Andrews, and "Pindar's Answer to the Author of the Picture Varnished," attributed to Richard Fitzpatrick.

The edition of 1819 of "Clio's Protest" is usually listed as "First Edition," but there is no doubt that this is THE GENUINE FIRST EDITION. This appears to be one of but two copies which have been recorded.
