This is believed to be the only copy extant. The little pamphlet was distributed among the patrons of the Olympic Theatre, Broadway and Bleecker Street, and it is doubtful if another copy has been preserved.

Not only curious as a specimen of Mr. Winter's earliest work (he wrote this under the pseudonym of "Mark Vale"), but also as an example of Thomas Nast's clever drawing. It is not described in Mr. A. B. Paine's Life of Nast.

Next to "Mark Vale" Mr. Winter has written his name. This, and "Wee Willie Winkie" two potboilers written for the great Clown, are supposed to be unique. We cannot trace any other copy. It is unknown to Mr. Paine, Thomas Nast's biographer.

Autograph Biographical

A splendid and charming memento of the "grand old lady." She heads her life" Anne Jane Hartley, born in Rochdale, Lancashier, England, Oct. 21st, 1822, then tells of her first appearance as a dancer in 1845, her marriage the same year to the celebrated actor, G. H. Gilbert, her arrival in America in 1850, etc., etc., winding up: "Dear Mr. WinterI know it is all done very badly but it is the best that I can do, yours sincerely, Mrs. G. H. Gilbert." Mr. Winter has made a note on the last leaf, and signed it.
