187. M'ROBERT (PATRICK). A Tour through Part of the North Provinces of America, being A Series of Letters wrote on the Spot, in the Years 1774 & 1775. To which are annex'd Tables, shewing the Roads, the Value of Coins, Rates of Stages, etc., etc. 8vo, crushed red levant morocco, Jansen style, gilt top, rough edges, by Canape. Edinburgh: Printed for the Author, 1776

THIS LITTLE PRIVATELY PRINTED PIECE OF 64 PAGES IS OF THE UTMOST RARITY, AN EXHAUSTIVE SEARCH FAILING TO REVEAL THE OCCURRENCE OF A

SINGLE COPY IN THE WHOLE RANGE OF BOOK PRICE RECORDS. The only copy recorded by Sabin is the one in Harvard.

The volume consists of 7 Letters, the first of which, dated Aug. 1774, is from New York. Then follow others from Newport, Nova Scotia, Island of St. John's, Philadelphia and Elizabethtown. There is a section devoted to the Rates of the Stages from New York to Philadelphia, also a List of Roads in North America. Aside from a small hole in one leaf and a few marginal repairs, it is a choice copy.
