Christopher Brumfit is Professor of Education with reference to Language and Linguistics, Head of the Research and Graduate School of Education, and Director of the Centre for Language in Education at the University of Southampton, UK. Ronald Carter is Professor of Modern English Language andHead of School in the Department of English Studies at the University of Nottingham, where he has taught since 1979. He is a member of the Literature Advisory Committee. Professor Carter has published widely in the areas of language and education.
