It was in all probability printed by Anthony Armbruster, although Sabin credits it to Franklin.

Twenty-two Indians, who had lived at peace for years with the whites, were the subjects of this massacre, characterized by Field as "the most horrible picture of human phrensy this continent ever saw.

VERY SCARCE. This very curious book is very largely fiction, but it contains material of great interest to the collector of Americana and Franklin matter, as it has a number of spurious Franklin letters. It created a sensation on its first publication, and passed through many editions both in French and English.

usually trimmed down to about 54 inches tall; the present copy is 7% inches. In the Eames catalogue, this was catalogued as "probably the tallest copy known by % of an inch. Beautiful Copy of the FIRST EDITON. The large folding plate showing the City and the Fleet is of particular rarity and interest. The Author was a Boston Merchant who with 4000 New England Colonists joined the Expedition under Sir William Pepperell aganist Louisbourg. He superintended the removal of the Prisoners to France and disbursed over half a million pounds sterling in that operation. This amount though voted by Parliament in 1748 was never repaid him. His Dairy of the Siege was republished in Boston in 1847 under the title of "A Boston Merchant of 1745." Very Rare. Not in the Church catalogue.

FINE COPY OF THE FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. This is a translation in English by Thomas Nicholson of Gomara's "La Conquista de Mexico,' the second part of his "Historia general de las Indias." It omits much matter contained in the original. The first part of Gomara's work has never been translated into English.
