1. (A test of accuracy.) Draw carefully a 6-inch square. Inside it, beginning at the lower left-hand corner, draw, as accurately as possible, a succession of lines in the order given. Note that the lines have not been represented in their true proportion.

Line 1-2, from the lower left-hand corner to the middle point of the righthand side

Line 2-3, at 15° to the horizontal

Line 3-4, at 60° to line 2-3, and 4 inches long

Line 4-5, vertical

Line 5-6, perpendicular to line 1-2 and 6 inches long

Line 6-7, parallel to line 2-1

Scale and record the distances 6-7 and 7-1 to the nearest 1/32 of an inch.

2. Make an isometric drawing of a 3-inch cube, modified as follows. Centrally on its top face stands a right cone, diameter of base 2 inches, altitude 2 inches. Entirely across a visible side face of the cube and intersecting each other at the center of the face, extend two rectangular grooves, each 1 inch wide and inch deep; one groove is vertical, the other is inclined at 30° to the horizontal edges (60° to the vertical edges) of the cube.

3. Answer either (a) or (b).

a) Given the top, front, and end views shown below. Required to draw a front cross-sectional view and a side cross-sectional view on the planes AA and BB respectively.

b) A right pyramid 21⁄2 inches high, base a horizontal rectangle 2 inches by 11 inches, stands behind V (the vertical plane of projection) and below H (the horizontal plane of projection). The longer sides of its base are parallel to V. The pyramid is cut through its apex and along its axis by a vertical plane inclined at 45° to V. Required the projections (views) of the pyramid and the true shape of the section cut from it by the plane.
