PREFACE. THIS collection has been made with a view to the requirements of Preparatory Schools and the Lower and Middle Forms of Public Schools. It is hoped that it may be also found useful in preparing Candidates for the Oxford and Cambridge Local Examinations. Special attention has been paid in the Poetical and more difficult Prose passages to the needs of candidates for Minor Scholarships.
