Arise and join the solemn lay;
Engage with us to sing and pray,
While angels join in concert.

5 Now let the messengers resound,
Glad tidings thro' the earth around;
Now let our songs of praise abound,
With instruments of various sound,
While angels join in concert.

HYMN CCVI. C. M.
On receiving a member.

COME welcome sister enter here,

And with us all unite;

In bonds of love and friendship dear,
In scenes of pure delight.

Enter and shew thyself a friend,
To Jesus and his cause;

Come leave all earthly cares behind,
In search of endless joys.

3 Enter and you shall quickly find,
The liberty of truth;

No bondage here, no fetter'd mind,
But joys for age and youth.

4 This is the New Jerusalem,
Descending from above;

The city of most ancient fame,
Where ev'ry heart is love.

5 Here life divine, from Jesu's word,
Flows free for ev'ry soul;

H. C.

Who humbly yield unto the Lord,
Here streams of pleasure roll.
6 The glorious character of God,
Shall here be fully known:
Nor shall the same misunderstood,
Make Zion more to groan.

Come in dear sister, come and taste
The food that is divine;

Among the friends of Jesus rest,
And count them friends of thine.

HYMN CCVII. P. M.

A Parody.

I. C.

iTHE sun sets at night and the stars shun

the day;

But glory remains, when the light fades away,

Begin ye admirers of Jesus's love,

Who di'd to redeem us and raise us above.

2 Remember the night when his sorrows began The horrors of darkness that fell on the man; Why so faint and so slow does your gratitude move,

To the Lamb that was wounded, that sinners might live.

3 Remember the spot where in anguish he lay, The sins which he bore from his people

away;

Now faith rises high, we exult in his love,

Who did to redeem us, but now is above.

4 We'll go to the land where our Saviour is gone,

And saints shall rejoice in the fruits of the Son,

And the angels shall sing, hallelujah, amen. All glory and praise to the Lamb who was slain.

HYMN CCVIII. S. M.

bless thy chosen race,
In mercy Lord incline,

And cause the brightness of thy face,
On all thy saints to shine;

CHORUS.

Praise ye the Lord,
Hallelujah,

Praise ye the Lord.

That so thy wond'rous way,

May thro' the world be known,

Whilst distant lands their tributes pay,

And thy salvation own ;

Praise ye, &c.

3

Let diff'ring nations join,
To celebrate thy fame,

Let all the world, O Lord, combine
To praise thy glorious name.

Praise ye,

&c.

4

Let them rejoice and sing,
To thee with pious mirth,

For thou the righteous Judge and King,
Dost govern all the earth.

Praise ye,

HYMN CCIX. P. M.

For persons joined in fellowship.
OME away to the skies,
My beloved, arise,

And rejoice in the day thou wast born:
On this festival day,

Come exulting away,

And with singing to Zion return.

2 We have laid up our love,
And our treasure above,
Tho' our bodies continue below:
The redeem'd of the Lord,
We remember his word,
And with singing to paradise go.

3 With singing we praise
The original grace,

By our heavenly Father bestow'd;
Our being receive

From his bounty, and live
To the honour and glory of God.

4 For thy glory we are

Created to share,

Both the nature and kingdom divine;

Created again,

That our souls may remain

In time and eternity thine.

5 With thanks we approve

The design of thy love,

Which hath join'd us in Jesus's name;

So united in heart,

That we never can part,

Till we meet at the feast of the Lamb.

There, there, at his feet,

We shall suddenly meet,

And be parted in body no more!
We shall sing to our lyres,
With the heavenly choirs,
And our Saviour in glory adore.

Hallelujah we sing

To our Father and King,

And his rapturous praises repeat;
To the Lamb that was slain
Hallelujah again,

Sing all heaven, and fall at his feet!

In assurance of hope,

We to Jesus look up,

Till his banner's unfurld in the air,

From our graves we shall see,
And cry out, "It is He,"

And fly up to acknowledge him there,

Reflections on the Halcyon Morning.

A. M. SARJENT.

1ENGAGE my soul in Jesu's praise,

And lift thy voice on high;

Salute the morn with solemn lays,
And think your Lord is nigh.
