Philadelphia: Published by Mrs. Sarah Alcock, 1843 VERY SCARCE. Captain Hewson started the first calico printing estab lishment in America. In 1775 Mrs. George Washington visited the works, and left a miniature of General Washington, and Hewson had calico handkerchiefs executed with the likeness of. Washington in full military dress on horseback with a truncheon in his left hand. "This work was written by a person who was a witness of the important events of the War."
