An important and interesting book relating entirely to the Island of Martha's Vineyard. This copy has the usual time stains, and includes the important pages of "Books printed," etc.

Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and the Elizabeth Islands were granted by Sir Ferdinando Gorges, to Thomas Mayhew, in 1641, and for four generations a Mayhew was preaching to those Ísland Indians, this book being by a great-grandson of the original patentee. At the time of writing there were upwards of three thousand "praying Indians' on the Vineyard and Nantucket.
