THE RARE EARLIEST ISSUE OF THE FIRST EDITION, with the yellow paper advertisements of the "Latest Works of Mr. Thackeray" and "Works of Leigh Hunt," &c., at beginning and end of each volume; and before the insertion of the "Catalogue of Books published by Smith, Elder & Co.," 16 pages, at the end of Vol. 3. This advertisement was issued in October, 1852, and bears that date on the first page. This copy was presented in that month, and evidently before the advertisement was issued with the usual copies.
