Edinburgh: For Private Circulation Only, 1884 FIRST EDITION. Very rare. On the cover are the initials of Henley, written by him, and he has written Stevenson's on the title-page. A number of the passages in the play are marked or crossed out with pencil. Stevenson's own copy from his library, with the Vailima book label signed by Mrs. Strong. Inserted is an autograph check signed by Stevenson, dated April 16th, 1887, for £2 to Mrs. Alan Stevenson.

FIRST EDITION. Privately issued by the author for presentation among his friends. Inserted is the original Permit issued by the board of health at Honolulu, dated May 20, 1889, signed by N. B. Emerson, Presi. dent of the Board of Health, with official seal permitting Robt. Louis Stevenson to visit the Leper Settlement at Molokai for the purpose of studying conditions there. The permit is addressed to R. N. Meyer, Superintendent of the Leper Settlement, Molokai, and is numbered 35. It should be noted that “Father Damien,” which is dated Sydney, Feby. 25, 1890, was printed about nine months after this visit. From the Sterenson Library, with the bookplate signed Isobel Strong.
