Behold the King of Glory near.

But who this King of Glory? fay,

The God, whom Heav'n's high Hofts obey:
In him that King of Glory view,

The Character of a Man approved of God.
HIS fpacious Earth is all the Lord's,
The Lord's her Fulness is;

The World, and they who dwell therein,
By fov'reign Right are his.

But for himself this Lord of all,

To gainful Perjury.

With Righteousness to crown.

The facred Courts are trod;
And fuch who feek acceptably

Dwelling with God.

HE Earth for ever is the Lord's With Adam's num'rous Race; He rais'd its Arches on the Floods, And built it on the Seas.

2 But who among the Sons of Men May vifit thine Abode ?

He who has Hands from Mischief clean,
Whose Heart is right with God.

This is the Man may rise and take
The Bleffings of his Grace;
This is the Lot of those who seek
The God of Jacob's Face.

4 Now let our Souls immortal Pow'rs
To meet the Lord prepare,
Lift up their everlasting Doors,
The King of Glory's near.

5 The King of Glory! Who can tell
The Wonders of his Might?
He rules the Nations; but to dwell
With Saints is his Delight.

HIS fpacious Earth is all the Lord's,

And Men and Worms, and Beafts and Birds:

He rais'd the Building on the Seas,

And gave it for their Dwelling-Place.

2 But there's a brighter World on high,
Thy Palace, Lord, above the Sky:
Who fhall afcend that bleft Abode,
And dwell fo near his Maker God?

3 He who abhors and fears to fin,

Whose Heart is pure, whose Hands are clean,
Him fhall the Lord the Saviour bless,
And fill his Soul with Righteousness.

4 Thefe are the Men, the pious Race
Who seek the God of Jacob's Face:
These shall enjoy the blissful Sight,
And dwell in everlasting Light.

'REJOICE, ye fhining Worlds on high,

Behold the King of Glory nigh;

Who can this King of Glory be?
The mighty Lord, the Saviour's he.
2 Ye heav'nly Gates, your Leaves display
To make the Lord the Saviour Way:
Laden with Spoils from Earth and Hell
The Conqu'ror comes with God to dwell.
3 Rais'd from the Dead he goes before,
He opens Heav'n's eternal Door,
To give his Saints a blest Abode
Near their Redeemer, and their God.

O thee, great God, my Soul fhall rise;
On thee my stedfast Mind relies ;
Thy Paths, bleft Source of Light, display,
And teach my doubting Steps thy Way.

Ye Souls that to his Fear incline,

Secure to God your Steps refign,

And learn from his directing Hand
What Path may best your Choice demand.
3 How bleft, thy Precepts, Lord, who knows!
As o'er Life's Pilgrimage he goes,

See Peace and Safety nightly spread
Their Tent around his favor'd Head:
4 See, rang'd in fair Defcent, his Line
The Lot which thy Decrees affign
Divide, and, long as Time fhall laft,
The Bleffings of thy Bounty taste.
