I give and bequeath the sum of

unto the Treasurer for the time being of a voluntary Society meeting in or near London, commonly called or known by the Name of "The Church Missionary Society for Africa and the East:" the same to be paid within months next after my

decease, out of such part only of my Personal Estate as shall not consist of Mortgages or Chattels Real, in Trust, to be applied to the uses and purposes of that Society; and for which the receipt of such Treasurer shall be a sufficient discharge.

Devises of land, or of money charged on land, or secured on mortgage of lands or tenements, or to be laid out in lands or tenements, are void; but money or stock may be given by Will, if not directed to be laid out in land.

EZEKIEL XLVII. 8.

THEN SAID HE UNTO ME, THESE WATERS ISSUE OUT TOWARD THE EAST COUNTRY, AND GO DOWN INTO THE DESERT, AND GO INTO THE SEA; WHICH BEING BROUGHT FORTH INTO THE SEA, THE WATERS SHALL BE HEALED.

THESE words form a part of that sublime series of visions, whose detail closes the inspired announcements of the prophet Ezekiel. After he had, in solemn strains, declared the counsels of God against the enemies of His chosen people, and testified to the destruction that awaited the Princes of Mesech and Tubal; after having stated, that, in that judgment, the Heathen should see His glory, and the House of Israel know the Lord their God from that day forth for evermore, who, pouring out His Spirit upon that house, had brought them again from the people, and gathered them from out of their enemies' lands, and had pledged Himself not to hide His face from them any more; the prophet proceeds, in apparent connection with the
