Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Then a Psalm may be sung.

BENEDICTION.

THE grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

The Marriage Service.

The Minister may begin with reciting one or more of these Sentences.

M

ARRIAGE is honourable among all men.-Heb. xiii.

He that made them at the beginning, made them male and female, and said, For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they two shall be one flesh.-Matt. xix.

Whoso findeth a wife, findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.-Prov. xviii. Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.-2 Cor. vi.

Let us pray.

INTRODUCTORY PRAYER.

LMIGHTY GOD, our Heavenly Father, who hast created us, and dost from day to day load us with thy benefits; and who hast

sent thy well-beloved Son into the world, that we might not perish but might have everlasting life,-We thankfully acknowledge thy great goodness and mercy. We confess and lament our great unworthiness, and our manifold sins. against thy divine majesty: and we beseech thee to forgive all our trespasses, and to accept us and bless us with thy favour and love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O GOD, who didst in the beginning create man out of the earth, and who, because it was not good for the man that he should be alone, didst form the woman to be an help meet for him; and didst bring her unto the man that they two might be one flesh; and didst bless them and say, that for this cause a man should leave his father and his mother, and should cleave unto his wife; and who hast, by thine apostle, declared that marriage is honourable in all,-We pray that thy blessing may rest upon these thy servants, who are now to be joined together according to thy holy institution and ordinance; that acknowledging thee, and seeking to please thee, in this and in

all things, they may enjoy thy favour which is life, and thy loving-kindness which is better than life. And this we beg in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then the Minister, after having charged the parties to declare if they know any just cause or impediment why they should not be joined together; shall say,

Do

To the Man:

you take this woman to be your wedded wife for better for worse; and do you promise, before God and these witnesses, that you will be to her a faithful and loving husband, till God shall separate you by death ?-Ans. I do.

To the Woman :-
:-

Do you take this man to be your wedded husband for better for worse; and do you promise, before God and these witnesses, that you will be to him a faithful, loving, and obedient wife, till God shall separate you by death.-Ans. I do.

Then I declare you married persons. And what God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

A BENEDICTION.

THE Lord bless you and keep you:

The Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you.

The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.-Num. vi.

W1

Then may be read the following Lesson.

IVES, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and he is the Saviour of the body. Therefore, as the Church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for her; that he might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that he might present her to himself, a pure church,
