O thou great Master and Lord, whose are all things in heaven and earth, and who givest to every one as it seemeth good to thine infinite wisdom; grant us grace, we entreat thee, that we may diligently and faithfully employ the talents, whatever they are, which thou hast committed to us for a season; that when the Lord shall return and reckon with his servants, we may render our account with joy and not with grief.

Vouchsafe unto those who are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, or trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us all things richly to enjoy; that they be rich in good works, laying up a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life:

And unto thy servants that are poor in this world, that they be poor in spirit, but rich in faith, and heirs of that kingdom which thou hast promised to them that love thee. Amen.

INTERCESSION.

(For all Men :) O GOD our Saviour, who willest that all men be saved, and come to the

knowledge of the truth, and hast given commandment that supplications and thanksgivings be made for all men; for there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time ;-we lift up our hearts unto thee, in the name of this thy Son Jesus Christ, entreating thee to look in thy tender mercy upon all the kindreds of the nations; to deliver them from ignorance, superstition, idolatry, and wickedness, from cruelty and oppression, from want and misery. Cause the light of thy truth to shine in all the dark places of the earth, and hasten thy kingdom; that the glory of the Lord may be revealed, and all flesh may see it together. Amen.

(For all in Authority :) WE pray for kings, and for all that are in authority, that they may govern the people committed to them in wisdom and justice, and in thy fear, who art the King of kings, and the Lord of lords. Especially for thy servant, our Sovereign Queen Victoria, that she may be guided and upheld by thy

Holy Spirit, and may at all times enjoy thy favour and blessing; that her reign may be long and prosperous, and that she may inherit thy heavenly kingdom:

For thy servant, the Prince Consort; for Albert Prince of Wales; and for all the members of the Royal family:

For the Queen's Ministers and Counsellors, and for the High Court of Parliament:

For all Magistrates, Judges, and Rulers; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, in godliness and honesty, adorning the doctrine of God our Saviour. Amen.

(For the Afflicted :) Look down, O merciful Father, upon all thy creatures who are in sorrow, pain, sickness, or any other adversity. Sanctify and strengthen the living for thy service upon earth: sanctify and strengthen the dying; that being washed from the stains of sin, and eased of the load of guilt and fear, they may be made ready for the unspeakable joys of thy presence in heaven. Let their cry enter into thine ears, O God of Sabaoth: Lord, receive their prayer, and hear our prayers for

them. Send into their hearts thy Holy Spirit, the Comforter, that they may rejoice in tribulation, and be made perfect in that love which casteth out fear: through Christ our Lord, who suffered and was tempted, and is able to succour us when we are tempted; who died, and hath taken away the victory of death and the sting of the king of terrors, and is gone before to prepare mansions for us in heaven, that where he is, there we may be also. Amen.

THE Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee.

Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion.

Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy sacrifice.

Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.

We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.-Ps. xx.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Then a Psalm may be sung.

BENEDICTION.

THE grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
