THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

Let any man focus on his conduct the light of the divine declaration, "Whatsoever is not of Faith is sin," and the better the man, the more alarming and painful will be the discovery. In the light of the infinite. greatness and goodness of God, he learns the infinite evil of sin. - Unknown.

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

If I lay waste and wither up with doubt
The flecked fields of heaven where once my

Faith

Possessed itself serenely safe from death;

If I deny the things past finding out;

Or if I orphan my own soul of One,

That seemed a Father, and make void the

place

Within me where He dwelt in power and

grace

What do I gain, that am myself undone?

Howells.

In nearness to Jesus lies all our safety. Weak Faith and little Faith as well as great Faith are encouraged to rush to this Great Deliverer. The world is at best but a treacherous sea. But safe in the ark of God, steered by the Heavenly Pilot, we are as secure as combined omnipotence and love can make us. And when earthly storms are all over, every crested wave of a chequered past will only endear to us more the haven of rest where the tempest's voice will be never more either felt or heard.

-Macduff.

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

To the eye of the Christian's Faith the love of our Father shines on uneclipsed by our sorrows; that the clouds and darkness round His throne do not mount to His bosom, that his chastenings are affectionate, what we call His anger only the Faithfulness of His

regard, and all aur various disappointments and troubles but His way of weaning us from the world, this belief of our religion fills the soul with a satisfaction so deep waves, and

storms find no room for a drop of anguish to --C. A. Bartol.

You can keep a Faith only as you keep a plant, by rooting it into your own life and making it grow there. --Phillips Brooks. When the fight begins within himself, A man's worth something.

Is not my Word like as a fire? saith the Lord, and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? And he that hath my Word let him speak my Word Faithfully. -Fer. 24: 28, 29.
