516 7,6, D.

7,6, D.
i The God that to the fathers

To-day we see fulfilling
Revealed His holy will

The dreams they dreamt of old;
Has not the world forsaken,

While nearer, ever nearer,
He 's with the children still.

Rolls on the age of gold.
Then envy not the twilight

That glimmered on their way; 3 With trust in God's free spirit,
Look up, and see the dawning

The ever-broadening ray
That broadens into day.

Of truth that shines to guide us

Along our forward way, 2 'T was but far off, in vision,

Let us to-day be faithful
The fathers' eyes could see

As were the brave of old,
The glory of the kingdom,

Till we, their work completing,
The better time to be.

Bring in the age of gold!

2 “ Love as I loved you,” was the sound No moving looks, like those which sent
That on Thy lips expiring sat!

Their softness through a traitor's heart?
Sweet words in bitter strivings drowned !
We hated as the worldly hate.

5 No touching tale of anguish dear,

Whereby like children we may creep, 3 Yet, Lord, Thy wrongèd love fulfill, All trembling, to each other near, Thy Church, though fallen, before Thee And view each other's face, and weep?

stands; Behold, the voice is Jacob's still,

6 0, move us — Thou hast power to move — Albeit the hands are Esau's hands.

One in the One Beloved to be ;

Teach us the heights and depths of love; 4 Hast thou no tears, like those be-spent Give Thine — that we may love like Upon thy Zion's ancient part?

Thee!

2 O Son of God, whose love so free 3 0 Trinity in Unity,

For men did make Thee man to be, One only God, in Persons Three,
United to our God in Thee,

Dwell ever in our hearts; like Thee
May we be one!

May we be one !
the world shall pass away,
May we awake with joy, and say,
“Now in the bliss of endless day
We all are one."

The Church Universal i From north and south and east and west, 3 When on each southern balmy coast

When shall the peoples, long unblest, Shall ransomed men, in countless host, All find their everlasting rest,

Rise, heart and voice, to make sweet boast, O Christ, in Thee?

O Christ, in Thee? 2 When shall the climes of ageless snow 4 Bring, Lord, the long-predicted hour, Be with the Gospel light aglow,

The ages' diadem and flower, And all men their Redeemer know,

When all shall find their refuge, tower, O Christ, in Thee?

And home in. Thee !
