I have no doubt but many persons will wonder at the liberty I have taken, in venturing to publish an abridgment of the Works of Archbishop Fenelon; or indeed, that I should publish any thing at all; and some, perhaps, whose approbation I earnestly wish to obtain, will censure me. I can only say that the work from which I made the selection, has been an unspeakable blessing to my own mind, and it is very scarce; so I thought, if that I could be the means, in the hands of God, of rescuing so much excellence from obscurity, I should render a service to the religious world. I would entreat those who do not see the matter in this light, to forgive me for the sake of the motive. MARIA BRADBURN. Warrington, Nov. 10, 1825. |
