HYMN 236. C. M. [#]
Success of the Gospel.
To thy exalted Son,
Thy word of life shall run ?
Shall their Redeemer own, Whilst Gentiles to his standard crowd,
And bow before his throne ? 3 Are not all kingdoms, tribes and tongues,
Beneath the arch of heaven, To the dominion of thy Son,
Without exception, given ? 4 From east to west, from north to south,
Then be his name adored,
Hosanna to the Lord.

Mark the diffusive rain !
They turn not back again,
The hills and valleys shine,
And man and beast are fed
By Providence divine :
My gospel shall descend,
The purpose I intend

Christ our Example.
Such let our conversation be ;
Wisdom and meek simplicity.
And tempt our thoughts or tongues to strife, To Jesus let us lift our eyes,
Bright Pattern of the Christian life. 3 O how benevolent and kind,
How mild, how ready to forgive !
And these the rules by which we live. 4 Dispensing good where'er he came,
The labours of his life were love;
By his example let us move.
How frail, how apt to turn aside!
Lord, we depend upon thy care;
We ask thy spirit for our guide.
HYMN 239. L. M. [#]
Praise for Truth.
Prepare a sweet, angelic song;
An angel's lay, a seraph's fire.
Oceans of mercies sweetly rốll,
Flow freely from the Fount above. 3 O, happy day! we live to see
How kind to men our God can be :
And Zion is divinely blessed.
We will with holy songs record;
HYMN 240. C. M. [#]
God's Promises sure.
The mercies of the Lord,
How faithful is his word.
Shall firm as heaven andure ;
And, if he speaks a promise once,
Eternal grace is sure.
A throne above the skies;
Shall to that glory rise. 4 Lord God of hosts, thy wondrous ways
Are sung by all above;
shall raise To thine unchanging love.
HYMN 241. C. M. [#]
Light of Truth. 1 The new-born world, immersed in night,
In gloomy horrors lay ; Jehovah said, Let there be light,
And poured the boundless day. 2 Thus o'er the greater world, within,
Let beams immortal shine ; Disperse, O Lord, the clouds of sin,
And spread a dawn divine. 3 Attendant on this sacred light,
Celestial fire impart,
Inflame my frozen heart.
Shall to my God be given :
In fragrant clouds to heaven.

Gospel Mission. 1 Thus spake the Saviour, when he sent
His ministers to preach his word : They through the world obedient went,
And spread the gospel of their Lord : 2 Go forth, ye heralds, in my name ;
Bid all the world my grace receive ; The gospel jubilee proclaim,
And call them to repent and live. 3 The joyful news to all impart,
And teach them where salvation lies ; Bind up the broken, bleeding heart,
And wipe the tear from weeping eyes. 4 Be wise as serpents where you go,
But harmless as the peaceful dove,
That you're commissioned from above. 5 All power is vested in my hands;
I will protect you and defend;
I'm with you till the world shall end.
