ERUSALEM, my happy home,
Name ever dear to me,

When shall my labours have an end
In joy and peace and thee ?

When shall these eyes thy heaven-built walls
And gates of pearl behold,
Thy bulwarks with salvation strong,
And streets of shining gold?

Apostles, martyrs, prophets, there
Around my Saviour stand;
And all I love in Christ below
Shall join that glorious band.

Jerusalem, my happy home,

My soul still longs for thee;
Then shall my labours have an end,
When I thy joys shall see.

J ERUSALEM the golden,

With milk and honey blest;
Beneath thy contemplation

Sink heart and voice oppressed.
I know not, oh! I know not
What joys await us there,
What radiancy of glory,

What bliss beyond compare.

They stand, those halls of Sion,
All jubilant with song,
And bright with many an angel,
And all the martyr throng:
The Prince is ever in them,

The daylight is serene;
The pastures of the blessed

Are decked in glorious sheen.
There is the throne of David;

And there, from care released, The shout of them that triumph,

The song of them that feast; And they, who with their Leader Have conquered in the fight, For ever and for ever

Are clad in robes of white.

PRAISE
ISE to the Holiest in the height,
And in the depth be praise;
In all His words most wonderful,
Most sure in all His ways!

O loving wisdom of our God!
When all was sin and shame,
A second Adam to the fight
And to the rescue came.

O wisest love! that flesh and blood,
Which did in Adam fail,
Should strive afresh against the foe,
Should strive and should prevail;

O generous love! that He, Who smote
In man for man the foe,

The double agony in man
For man should undergo;

And in the garden secretly,
And on the Cross on high,
Should teach His brethren and inspire
To suffer and to die.

Praise to the Holiest in the height
And in the depth be praise;
In all His words most wonderful,
Most sure in all His ways!

RACIOUS Spirit, Holy Ghost,
Taught by Thee, we covet most
Of Thy gifts at Pentecost
Holy, heavenly Love.

Faith, that mountains could remove,
Tongues of earth or heaven above,
Knowledge, all things, empty prove,
Without heavenly Love

Love is kind, and suffers long,
Love is meek, and thinks no wrong,
Love than death itself more strong;
Therefore give us Love.

Prophecy will fade away,
Melting in the light of day;
Love will ever with us stay;
Therefore give us Love.

Faith and Hope and Love we see
Joining hand in hand agree;
But the greatest of the three,
And the best, is Love.

76

JORD of Love, Whose words have taught us
How to serve Thee and obey;
Lord of Love, Whose deeds have brought us
Wondering at Thy feet to pray;
Fill our hearts with ample measure
Of the Christian graces three;
Most of all with Thy dear treasure,
Never-failing Charity;

Charity, that ever bindeth

Mortal men with cords of love; Charity, that still remindeth

Earthly souls of heaven above; Charity, the Spirit's token,

Sinners have received of Thee: He whom Jesus loved hath spoken, God Himself is Charity.
