The School deems it a special honor to be the recipient of her kindness, the only School in Boston accorded that privilege.

It is always a pleasure and privilege to hear a poet interpret his own poems and last November Mr. Charles Keeler of New York read for the School from the group of child verse. At the close of the recital the students and guests were given an opportunity to meet the distinguished visitor.

MISS NELLIE T. THOMAS (G.C.D. '07) of the Margaret Eaton School, Toronto, Canada, attended the Chicago Summer Term in Augu. t.

MISS GRACE M. WARNER (G.C.D. '09) of the East Orange High School, East Orange, N. J., was Assistant and Informal Dean of Dr. Curry's summer term at the University of New York, in July. MISS KATHLEEN DICKENSON (Student '10) is spending the winter in Pasadena, Cal.

MISS PAULINE SHERWOOD TOWNSEND (P.R.D. '08, Artistic D. '14), directed a fine production of Euripides' "Trojan Women," given at Ward-Belmont, Nashville, Tenn., last February. A pageant written by Miss Townsend in celebration of the Shakespearean Tercentenary was presented under the direction of Miss Townsend and her associates, Miss Mary F. Cox (T.D. '07) and Miss Miriam Applebee (G.C.D. '13), by the students of WardBelmont on the Campus, May 16th. Miss Townsend's Indian Pageant has been produced in Missouri, Georgia, Oregon and Mississippi. Her Alice in Wonderland" dramatization has been given in Georgia and Oregon; and the School of Practical Arts, Boston.

MISS GERTRUDE COPELAND (G.C.D. '15) is teaching in the High School at Wilson, N. Y. She was an instructor in Expression in the Buffalo Summer School the past summer.

MRS. J. W. LYNAHAN (MARGARET MULLANEY, T.D. '95) of Corning, N. Y., gave an address on "The Study of Expression as a Preparation for Life" at the Convention of the New York State Association of Elocutionists in Rochester, N. Y., in November.

MISS SARA M. STINCHFIELD, A.B. (P.R.D. '08), has assumed charge of the auditorium and Expression work at W. H. McKelvy Elementary School, Pittsburgh, Pa.

MISS JESSIE MILLSAPPS (P.R.D. '12) is in charge of the Department of Expression at the Woman's College, Fort Worth, Texas.

MISS HELEN F. STURTEVANT (T.D. '16) taught Folk Dancing, Rhythmic Exercises and Free Standing Gymnastics at Lasell Seminary, for the Silver Burdett Company Summer School term, during the summer of 1916. Her address is 3 Hancock Ave., Lexington, Mass.

MISS RACHEL C. SIMS (T.D. '10) has been appointed the First Secretary of the Baptist Student Missionary Movement of North America with headquarters at Fort Worth, Texas. Miss Sims visits the State and Baptist schools of North America lecturing on world-wide missions.

MR. JAMES F. MORTON, JR., A.M. (S.D. 1894), is the field secretary and lecturer for the New York State Single Tax League.

MRS. GRACE DRYSDALE (GRACE MEEHAN, G.C.D. '06) is the Special School Representative of the Educational Department of the Columbia Graphaphone Company with headquarters in the Woolworth Building, New York.

MISS LULU CURRY (Grad. G.C. '01) has built a studio in Amarillo, Texas, and began her teaching there last June.

MISS FLORENCE M. WESSELL (T.D. '15) was Assistant Teacher of Gymnastics at the Southern Term of the School of Expression at Asheville, N. C., during July, 1916. She is now Teacher of Expression at Elizabeth College, Salena, Virginia.

MISS MARTHA M. TOMLINSON (Summer '10, '13) is teaching Debate and Oratory at "Castle Heights," Lebanon, Tenn.

MR. IRVING T. CHATTERTON (P.R.D. '15, T.D. '16) has opened a studio in Providence, R. I., 157 Cypress St.

MRS. LENORA A. HAMLIN (T.D. '00) of St. Paul, Minn., has become well known for her interest in educational reforms. She was Chairman of the Women's School Board Committee of St. Paul, last year.

MISS JANE E. HERENDEEN, A.M. (T.D. '07), director of the Department of Spoken English at Vassar College, has a studio at 47 East 49th St., New York City.

MISS MABEL I. GARDNER, A.B. (G.C.D. '15), is teaching Expression in the High School at Aiken, S. C.

MISS DAISY D. GRAY, A.B. (T.D. '14) is Director of Expression in Meridian College, Meridian, Miss. She is the author of "Christmas Pageant," published at Christmas, 1915.

MRS. L. L. MCCANDLESS (ELIZABETH CARTWRIGHT, G.C.D. '93) is Chairman of the Book Committee of the Library of Hawaii, Honolulu. She has introduced Dr. Curry's books into that library.

MR. EDWIN N. C. BARNES (Student '00-'01) is director of the Department of Music in the Public Schools of Central Falls, R. I. choirmaster of the First Baptist Church, Pawtucket, R. I.; president of the Rhode Island Music Supervisors' Association; member for state of Rhode Island of the National Council of Musio Supervisors, and vocal teacher and conductor.

MISS MARY PHELPS (T.D. '91) has a studio at 1800 Mt. Hope Av., New York City.

MISS ELIZABETH WHITMARSH (G.C.D. '08) received the degree of A.B. at the University of Pittsburgh (Pa.) in June, 1915. She is an assistant in the Department of Spoken English at Smith College, Northampton, Mass.

MISS ANNIE H. ALLEN, A.B. (T.D. '13), is instructor in Public Speaking at the University of California, Berkeley, Cal.

MISS CARRIE DAVIS (T.D. '10) has opened a studio in which she is meeting with marked success in distinctive Photography. Miss Davis writes: "It is surprising how the School of Expression training helps prepare one for anything in life. It is a wonderful help to me in portrait photography where naturalness, spontaneity and life-like characterization of the subject are as necessary as in the rendering of a poem or a drama." Her address is 78 Robinwood Ave., Jamaica Plain, Mass.

MISS HELEN BROWN_(T.D. '10) is teaching Expression at Logan College, Russellville, Ky.

We have just received notice of a book by MISS MARY E. PARKS (student) of Jamestown, N. Y., “What Would One Have?”. MISS RUTH DAVIDSON, A.B. (P.R.D. '15) conducts the StoryTelling Hour at the Public Library, Helena, Ark.

REV. J. WOODMAN BABBITT (Summer '10) of the Calvary Presbyterian Church of Newburgh, N. Y., appeared before the Convention of the New York State Association of Elocutionists in November, reading scenes from Shakespeare.

MRS. J. W. RENSHAW (ANNIE V. TILLERY, G.C.D. '10) is teaching in Richmond, Va., this year.

MISS MYRA G. FRINK (T.D. '14) taught during 1915-16 in a Convent in New Haven, Conn.

MISS GRACE ADELE PIERCE (Student '00) is doing literary work and is the author of several books as well as successful photoplays. She also wrote the libretto for the grand opera One Night in Venice" by Manfredi Chiafferelli. Her address is Santa Monica, Cal.

MRS. ELIZABETH D. MURRAY (Student '98, '99, '00, '09) is President of the Dramatic Club of Natchez, Miss. She prepared the Historical Pageant for the celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Natchez, last spring. Her studio is at Athol Place, Natchez, Miss.

MISS ELIZABETH COOLIDGE, A.B. (G.C.D. '97) is teacher of Expression at Burleson College, Greenville, Texas.

MRS. O. W. PIERCE (GRACE E. CLARKE, G.C.D.) is a well-known club woman and lecturer. Last year she gave a series of talks on "Modern Poetry" before the Woman's Department Club of Indianapolis. She was a delegate to the General Federation of Women's Clubs which met in New York last spring. Mrs. Pierce is represented in the School this year by Miss Jeanne Stewart of Indianapolis. MISS MARJORIE SUMPTER (T.D. '15) has opened a studio at Malvern, Ark.

MISS MARGARET A. BOYER (G.C.D. '95) has entered upon her third year as Principal of Schools in Tower City, Pa.

Report for the New York Chapter
School of Expression League.

November 14, 1916.

Last season was in one respect a very trying one for the New York Chapter, some of our best members going away at least temporarily, and we missed their assistance very much.

Mr. Morton, who has attended every meeting of the Chapter since its formation, left to give a series of lectures throughout the country.

Shortly afterwards Mr. Ferrari went to Europe for a couple of years, then Mrs. Drury moved West.

The loss of these three loyal and enthusiastic workers was a blow to us, but we kept together, meeting in one another's houses. As spring came on we were cheered by the news that Dr. Curry was going to teach in New York University for the summer.

Some of us studied there under him, and what a delightful time we had!

We were all thankful for the opportunity to get fresh light on the subject of Expression, and to review the principles of this art so old yet so new when presented by Dr. Curry.

Some of the new Summer School students have joined our Chapter this fall and we hope to have a good season.

Our program is "Literature of the Day."

We are still meeting the third Saturday of the month.

This time we will be entertained by Mrs. Hays at her home, 590 East 170 St.
