[A very fine and valuable Codex of the Bible, apparently of English or Anglo-Norman workmanship, with some indications of various readings. The illuminations are very important for the costumes of the century, the warriors in full chain armour, with hoods of mail, and the ladies, rustics and others in their distinctive dresses. The decorations consist of birds, flowers, grotesques, etc., branching off into points in the margins. The marginal ornament to Genesis is very fine, consisting of spirals and grotesques, with 8 figures of saints in ovals, splendidly illuminated. Catalogue.] 476 Biblia.
