I Describe a method by which the cost and the selling price of goods may be indicated so as to be intelligible only to the proprietor and his subordinates.

2 Explain how the present clearing-house system has simplified bank bookkeeping and state the principle of procedure at the clearing-house.

3 What are the advantages of using bills of exchange? What is meant by rate of exchange? Mention the general causes

affecting the rate of exchange.

4 Give the method of procedure in securing a bank loan based on collateral security. Mention three kinds of property often used as collateral security.

5 What is a) a letter of credit, b) a letter of guaranty, c) a due bill, d) a manifest, e) a bond of indemnity, ƒ) a warehouse receipt?

6 Describe in detail the process of organizing a corporation, or stock company, for manufacturing purposes in the state of New York. What payment, if any, is to be made to the state and to whom is this payment to be made?

12 Write the N. Y. draft mentioned in the transactions of Sep. 14. Assuming that Hopkins & Smith had made payment by certified check, instead of N. Y. draft, write the check, as it would appear when properly certified.

13 Assuming that Carson & Logan had paid their bill (transactions of Sep. 18) by a note at 60 days, write the note showing a proper indorsement and its location on the paper.

14-15 Write up Hopkins & Smith's bank pass book, assuming that the account was opened by depositing Smith's investment less $200 in currency, that the receipts as entered in cashbook were regularly deposited and that all payments were made by check except the freight items, "cartage," "driver," "telegrams and postage." Make out the deposit ticket for Sep. 30.
