Mr. Heckscher, who for many years was an ardent collector of sporting books, was never able to procure a copy of the first edition; also, another old-time collector, to whom we mentioned this copy, says that he has never seen or heard of the existence of the first edition.

The best edition, containing 12 portraits more than the Latin version.

The etched plates measure 18 x 10. After printing the requisite number for members the plates were sacrificed and a duplicate set of "Destroyed Plate Proofs " made for each set. The etchings were stamped with the insignia of the Society, and signed by both artists and etcher. An unusual feature of this is that the remarques are ALL EXECUTED BY HOWARD PYLE, instead of the etcher.
