On the title are the autographs of the celebrated CHRISTOPHER LONGOLIUS, WITH INTERESTING MANUSCRIPT NOTES IN GREEK BY HIM, and Richard Morysine, translator of Frontinus's Strategems of War, published in 1539. This copy contains the rare leaf at end, with the Register and Aldine anchor. Title slightly damaged, otherwise a fine, clean copy.

RARE. According to Renouard and Dibdin, this edition is correct and taken from good MSS., and has served as the basis of many subsequent ones. A VERY FINE AND LARGE COPY FROM THE LYSTON PARK LIBRARY, in the catalogue of which the binding is ascribed to PADEloup.

This work consists of pictorial title, and forty-one highly humorous and finely executed plates, ALL BRILLIANTLY COLORED. They illustrate a large number of sporting scenes, social life and every-day occurrences.

Mr. Hecksher's copy (also in original binding) sold last season for fifty-six dollars.

THE RARE FIRST HAWKINS' EDITION, which was edited by Mr. John (afterwards Sir) Hawkins, by whom the life of Walton was written. The Life of Cotton was written by W. Oldys. The HECKSCHER COPY WAS REBOUND AND SOLD FOR FORTY-FOUR DOLLARS. One of the most esteemed editions, mainly on account of its illustrations.
