The Concise Encyclopedias draw relevant articles from the Encyclopedia of Materials Science and Engineering, the only complete reference work in this rapidly developing field. The building materials covered by the Concise Encyclopedia of Building and Construction Materials are classified in three groups: structural materials, such as cement and steel; semistructural materials, including walls and flooring; and auxiliary materials, exemplified by insulation and coatings. The articles reflect the innovative research in each of these three areas.
