We have seen that every experience in life is specific and unique and that no
words can perfectly describe it , since to use qualifying adjectives at all is to
classify the experience under certain heads , thus lumping it together with other
which is hidden to all ordinary perception . What are we to say of such assertions
? Even if the notion of a " transcendent reality " “ beyond ” the pale of experience
made sense , how could it ever be experienced , through art or anything else ?
In this sense , to say of a work of art that it is real is to say that it reveals these "
essences " which are communicable to us and verifiable ( in the way we have
