Four Parts Complete, containing 16 plates, (4 to each part), and embracing a large number of small sketches of English Country Life, depicting a wide variety of human figures, horses, cattle, boats, dogs, vehicles, rural sports, occupations, humorous incidents, etc., etc., all finely colored by hand. 4 parts, imp. folio, each part in the original wrappers, with original printed labels, entirely uncut. Enclosed in cloth folding case.

London: Published by S. W. Fores, No. 50, Piccadilly, 1790-92 FIRST EDITION, and of such EXCESSIVE RARITY that it is not even mentioned by Grego, except in the summary. The imprint reads: "Published at Fores' Caricature Warehouse, where may be seen the completest collection of caricatures in the kingdom, also the Head and Hand of Count Struenze.--Admittance one shilling."

The etchings reveal Rowlandson's power of characterization to the full.

A Very Fine copy with wide margins. All the plates are dated September 1st, 1788, with the exception of the plate of Instructions, which contains a Border of 10 figures showing different positions and is dated January 20th, 1799.
