EXTREMELY RARE. This second edition is by far the rarest and best of all editions of this renowned sporting book; containing 15 BEAUTIFUL COLORED PLATES BY HENRY ALKEN (all brilliant original impressions). The work was originally issued serially in the new sporting magazine, and the character of Jorrocks created by Surtees immediately sprang into favor, it being to-day his best-known character.

THE RARE FIRST EDITION IN THE ORIGINAL BINDING. In addition to the sporting scenes, a number of the plates illustrate occurrences in everyday life, etc. Although marked "Vol. 1'' on title, there never was another volume completed. A second volume was started with about a dozen plates, but these plates, however, are almost unknown.
