SEE,

EE, the Conqueror mounts in triumph! See the King in royal state Riding on the clouds, His chariot,

To His heavenly palace gate!
Hark! the choirs of angel voices
Joyful alleluias sing,

And the portals high are lifted
To receive their heavenly King.

2 Who is this that comes in glory,

With the trump of jubilee? Lord of battles, God of armies, He has gained the victory;

He who on the cross did suffer,
He who from the grave arose,
He has vanquished sin and Satan,
He by death has spoiled His foes.

3 Thou hast raised onr human nature
In the clouds to God's right hand;
There we sit in heavenly places,
There with Thee in glory stand:
Jesus reigns, adored by angels,

Man with God is on the throne; Mighty Lord, in Thine ascension We by faith behold our own. Christopher Wordsworth, 1862

And hail Him as thy match-less King Thro' all eternity.

Amen.

[blocks in formation]

3 Crown Him the Lord of peace,
Whose power a sceptre sways
From pole to pole, that wars may cease,
Absorbed in prayer and praise.
His reign shall know no end;
And round His pierced feet
Fair flowers of Paradise extend
Their fragrance ever sweet.

4 Crown Him the Lord of years,
The Potentate of time,
Creator of the rolling spheres,
Ineffably sublime.

All hail, Redeemer, hail!

For Thou hast died for me: Thy praise shall never, never fail Throughout eternity.

Matthew Bridges, 1851

1 DEJOICE, the Lord is King;
Your Lord and King adore,
Mortals, give thanks, and sing,

And triumph evermore:

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice; again I say, rejoice.

2 His Kingdom cannot fail,

He rules o'er earth and heaven,

The keys of death and hell

Are to our Jesus given:

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice; again I say, rejoice.

3 He all His foes shall quell,
Shall all our sins destroy,
And every bosom swell

With pure seraphic joy:

Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;

Rejoice; again I say, rejoice.

Ye servants of God, your Mas- ter pro-claim, And pub-lish a broad His

wonderful name; The name all victorious, of Jesus ex - tol;

His

king - dom

is glorious, and rules o - ver

all.

Amen.

1 YE

E servants of God, your Master proclaim,
And publish abroad His wonderful name;
The name all victorious, of Jesus extol;
His kingdom is glorious, and rules over all.

2 God ruleth on high, almighty to save;
And still He is nigh- His presence we have.
The great congregation His triumph shall sing,
Ascribing salvation to Jesus, our King.

3 Salvation to God, who sits on the throne!
Let all cry aloud, and honor the Son.
The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim,
Fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb.

4 Then let us adore, and give Him His right,
All glory and power, and wisdom and might,
All honor and blessing, with angels above,
And thanks never ceasing, and infinite love.

Charles Wesley, 1744 v. 3, line 3, alt.
