HE Great Case of Tithes, by Anthony

Pearson, having been long out of Print, and now Reprinted, we thought it might not be improper to give tbe Reader some Account of the Author, and the Circumsiances wbicb occafond the writing of it.

Anthony Pearson was a Justice of Peace in Westmorland. He publish'd bis Treatise of Titbes in the rear 1657, wbich was so well receiv’d by the Publick, that in about Two Years it pafid Three Editions.

The Cry of Oppression being great from dia vers Parts of the Nation, because of the sea vere Prosecutions for Titbes, the Aut bor was excited to write on that Head, in Compashon to the Sufferers ; and to remove, if posible by Reason and found Argument, the Yoke and Burtben of Titbes from off the Laborious Hufbandman, and, otberwise, a Free People.
