2 Look down, O God, with pitying eye, And view the desolations round; See what wide realms in darkness lie, What scenes of wo and crime abound! 3 Loud let the gospel trumpet blow, And call the nations from afar; Let all the isles their Saviour know, And earth's remotest ends draw near.
O GOD of sovereign grace, We bow before thy throne, And plead, for all the human race, The merits of thy Son.
2 Spread through the earth, O Lord, The knowledge of thy ways; And let all lands with joy record The great Redeemer's praise!
GREAT God! the nations of the earth Are by creation thine; And in thy works, by all beheld, Thy power and glory shine.
2 But, Lord, thy greater love has sent Thy gospel to mankind;
Unvailing what rich stores of grace Are treasured in thy mind.
3 Oh! when shall these glad tidings spread The spacious earth around, Till every tribe-and every soul, Shall hear the joyful sound?
4 Smile, Lord, on each divine attempt To spread the gospel's rays,
And build on sin's demolished throne
A temple to thy praise.
Prayer for the Conversion of the World.
O LORD, our God, arise,
The cause of truth maintain; And wide o'er all the peopled world Extend her blessed reign.
2 Thou Prince of life, arise, Nor let thy glory cease;
Far spread the conquests of thy grace, And bless the earth with peace.
3 Thou Holy Ghost, arise,
Extend thy healing wing;
And o'er a dark and ruined world
Let light and order spring.
4 Let all on earth arise,
To God the Saviour sing;
From shore to shore-from earth to heaven,
Let echoing anthems ring!
SOVEREIGN of worlds! display thy power, Be this thy Zion's favored hour:
Oh bid the morning-star arise,
Oh point the heathen to the skies.
2 Set up thy throne where Satan reigns, In western wilds, and heathen plains, Far let the gospel's sound be known; Make thou the universe thine own.
3 Speak! and the world shall hear thy voice: Speak! and the desert shall rejoice:
Scatter the gloom of heathen night, Bid every nation hail the light.
ASCEND thy throne, almighty King; Now spread thy glories all abroad; Let thine own arm salvation bring, And be thou known the gracious God. 2 Let millions bow before thy seat, Let humble mourners seek thy face, Bring daring rebels to thy feet, Subdued by thy victorious grace.
3 Oh let the kingdoms of the world Become the kingdoms of the Lord; Let saints and angels praise thy name; Be thou through heaven and earth adored.
ARM of the Lord, awake!-awake! Put on thy strength-the nations shake! Now let the world, adoring, see Triumphs of mercy wrought by thee. 2 Say to the heathen, from thy throne, 'I am Jehovah, God alone!"
Thy voice their idols shall confound, And cast their altars to the ground. 3 Let Zion's time of favor come! Oh, bring the tribes of Israel home! Soon may our wondering eyes behold Gentiles and Jews in Jesus' fold! 4 Almighty God! thy grace proclaim Through every clime-of every name! Let adverse powers before thee fall, And crown the Saviour Lord of all!
Prayer for the Conversion of the World. O'ER the realms of pagan darkness, Let the eye of pity gaze; See the kindreds of the people Lost in sin's bewildering maze: Darkness brooding
On the face of all the earth.
2 Light of them that sit in darkness! Rise and shine-thy blessings bring: Light to lighten all the Gentiles! Rise with healing in thy wing; To thy brightness
Let all kings and nations come. 3 May the heathen, now adoring Idol-gods of wood and stone, Come, and, worshipping before him, Serve the living God alone: Let thy glory
Fill the earth as floods the sea. 4 Thou to whom all power is given, Speak the word-at thy command, Let the company of preachers Spread thy name from land to land; Lord, be with them
Alway to the end of time.

Prayer for the Jews.
MAY the glorious day of promise Come, and spread its cheerful ray, When the scattered sheep of Israel Shall no longer go astray; When hosannas
With united voice they cry.
2 Lord! how long wilt thou be angry? Shall thy wrath forever burn? Rise! redeem thine ancient people; Their transgressions from them turn. King of Israel!
Come, and set thy people free!
Conversion of all Nations approaching. ARISE! arise!-with joy survey The glory of the latter day: Already is the dawn begun
Which marks at hand a rising sun! 2 'Behold the way!' ye heralds, cry: Spare not-but lift your voices high: Convey the sound from pole to pole, 'Glad tidings' to the captive soul.
3 The north gives up-the south no more Keeps back her consecrated store: From east to west the message runs, And either India yields her sons. 4 Auspicious dawn!-thy rising ray With joy we view-and hail the day: Great Sun of Righteousness!-arise, And fill the world with glad surprise.
DAUGHTER of Zion, from the dust Exalt thy fallen head;
Again in thy Redeemer trust;
He calls thee from the dead.
2 Awake-awake!-put on thy strength, Thy beautiful array;
The day of freedom dawns at length, The Lord's appointed day,
