BENNETT PROFESSOR OF LATIN IN CORNELL UNIVERSITY Boston HARVARD COLLEGE LIBRARY CN 112ཀུག་ཀ།༡༩ COPYRIGHT, 1903, BY CHARLES E. BENNETT. Norwood Press J. S. Cushing & Co. - Berwick & Smith Co. Norwood, Mass., U.S.A. PREFACE. THE text of this edition is independent, being based upon a comparison of our best manuscript readings. J has been printed instead of i where the character has consonantal value, since without such differentiation the pupil must be entirely at a loss to know whether i before a vowel is consonantal or vocalic. The Vocabulary has been prepared with great care upon the basis of the Menge-Preuss Lexicon Caesarianum. The illustrations are taken mainly from Stoffel and Rheinhard. Grateful acknowledgments are hereby tendered to friends who have helped me with their criticisms and suggestions on the notes of this volume. ITHACA, April, 1903. CHARLES E. BENNETT. |
