INTRODUCTION.

THE following Catechism was compiled by the Author, as an aid to his own ministrations, and is published in consequence of the approval of several friends. He would merely add that it has now been in use for some years, almost in its present form, and seems to answer the end proposed, that of training young persons in the principles of Christ and his Church. Though the Parts are placed in the order of the Church Catechism, it may be better, in the case of young children, to begin with the Commandments and Lord's Prayer. With this view it is, that the doctrine of the Trinity is set forth briefly in the Commandments, as well as in the Creed, that, in case children get no

further, so important a point may not have been omitted. The exposition of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper may, it is hoped, be of use to those who are preparing for their first Communion.
