Apparently once in the library of Robert Hoe, with evidence of bookplate since removed, but not listed in the Hoe private catalogue or in the sale catalogue.

The last letter which I had from Dr. Johnson gave me an anxious concern, for it informed me that his health had been tottering, and two months have since elapsed without my hearing from him. You have pleased me, Madam, more than once, by saying that however he may be respected and admired by others, you and I are distinguished for also loving him.
