18, 1817. 10 pages, large folio.

On the outside the document is inscribed "Copy of Will of Percy Bysshe Shelley, Esquire. H. J. Leigh, Taunton." It is dated 1827.

990. SHELLEY FAMILY. Manuscript Copy of the settlement of the Shelley Estate, made by the Grandfather of the Poet, shortly before the birth of Percy Bysshe Shelley. Written on 109 pages of quarto size.

991. Copy of the Indenture made by Bysshe Shelley, Grandfather of the Poet, in settlement of his estate. Dated August 20th, 1791. Written on 77 large folio pages.

992. SHELLEY PAPERS. Letters in settlement of accounts, and on other matters, all dated 1851, shortly after the death of Mary W. Shelley. About 75 pieces.

993. Copy of Indenture between Percy Bysshe Shelley and William Willatts in which a charge is made against his interest in the estate of his father, Sir Timothy Shelley to the amount of £4500.-Dated January, 1818.

Probably most of this amount went to Godwin, for Shelley wrote in 1820 that he had given him between 4 and 5 thousand pounds within a few years.

994. SHELLEY (PERCY FLORENCE, Son of the Poet). 2 Manuscript Poems; 13 Autograph Letters, signed, to his Mother and "Claire." 15 pieces.

One of the rhymes is inscribed by Mary Shelley at the top "P. S.'s first poetic effusion.'' Most of the letters are early ones, written while he was still a boy.

FIRST EDITION. A very fine copy of this rare book. A few margins have been slightly torn in opening the book, but it is in unusually good condition throughout.

Manuscript of her criticism of Hogg's Life of Shelley. 3 pages, 8vo, with a few corrections by Leigh Hunt; 12 pages on the same subject, partly in the handwriting of Mrs. Shelley, but not complete.

The appearance of Hogg's biography of Shelley stirred Mrs. Shelley to make a published statement of its inaccuracies. She writes: "The wish to do justice or even no injury to Shelley himself is more than questionable; and the work altogether is of so extraordinary a description, as to have given rise to grave doubts of the author's sanity."

In relation to her own publications and asking him to send to John Hunt any books by Shelley still on hand. "I should be very glad of a single copy of the Alastor if by any chance there should be one remaining."

Six of the letters are to Mr. Moxon, and relate to her proposed journal, the books of the day, and other literary matters.

London: Printed by T. C. for William Cooke, 1639 THE RARE FIRST EDITION. This was really Shirley's second attempt at dramatic composition, although here printed for the first time, thirteen years after being licensed.

VERY RARE. Described in an enclosed clipping as the Genuine First Issue, without date, which escaped the notice of Gifford, Dyce, and the Biographica Dramatica, etc., but it is probable that this is the 1640 edition, with the date cut off. The last line of imprint and leaf of dedication slightly cut into, but a very good copy.

Each of the three pages represents Southey's attempt to begin his own biography. The first draft ends after about 10 lines had been written. The second fills the whole page, but has been cancelled. The third also fills the page and may have been continued.

FIRST ISSUE OF THE FIRST EDITION, with the blank spaces for the Welsh words on page 332 of volume one. The present copy has the pages 601-606, which were cancelled in the second issue, the Sonnets to Lady Carew and to all the ladies being omitted in the reprinted leaves. title of Vol. 1 has lower corner repaired necessitating a slight facsimile to the device and one letter, also similar repairs to several margins, in one instance two letters being affected.
