Elizabeth Su-Dale visited Norway, saw the lights of Norwegian homes in the autumn dusk and fell in love. Her appreciation of Norway has grown over the years since she first visited the country in the late 1970s. She has lived in Norway for close to four years at a stretch and sporadically for months, working on projects with startups and the University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. Elizabeth loves the fjords and mountains, and has worked at UNEP/GRID-Arendal, south of Oslo. She has experienced giving birth to her fourth child in Norway, being rushed down the mountain to the ferry point with a ferry captain in waiting! The first Norwegian song she learnt was "Ja, vi elsker dette landet", Norway's de facto national anthem. She has heard birdsong in a mountain pine forest, basked in the Nordic morning light and felt the magic of life and nature, making her a captive of Norway, a country she calls her second home.
