Albius Tibullus, eques Romanus, insignis forma cultuque corporis observabilis, ante alios Corvinum Messalam originem (leg. oratorem) dilexit, cuius et contubernalis Aquitanico bello militaribus donis dona

Hic multorum iudicio (et maxime Quinctiliani viri in studia [et] litterarum acerrimæ licentiæ] principem inter elegiographos obtinet locum. Epistolæ quoque eius amatoriæ, quanquam breves, omnino utiles sunt. Obiit adolescens (tempore Virgilii, ut indicat epigramma infra scriptum:

Te quoque Virgilio comitem, &c.]
