THE RARE FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH, of American importance, as it was this Treaty which gave New York to England, as it allowed the retention by each of the conflicting parties of the places it occupied. This provision confirmed the English in peaceful and righteous possession of the conquest of New Netherland.

The present copy contains numerous marginal notes in a contemporary hand, of such a character as to indicate its being an official copy or edited proof.

The Fan, a delightfully written volume, describing fan fancies and fashions among the Fair Sex in all ages, exquisitely illustrated by Paul Avril, every other page being delightfully decorated with the most charming pictures illustrating the vogue of the Fan in love and war, in court, camp, salon, and boudoir, in myth and history, in Eastern and Western climes; dainty drawings crowded with romping cupids and fascinating nymphs; a very choicely printed book, with decorative borders and ornaments, the illustrations all printed in various tints; UNIQUE COPY, EMBELLISHED WITH SEVEN DELIGHTFUL ORIGINAL WATER-COLOUR DRAWINGS, MOST BEAUTIFULLY EXECUTED, signed “P. A." and including remarkably clever portraits of Balzac and Theophile Gautier, well-drawn views of the Paris Opera House, the Arch of Triumph, and the Villa Umberto, Rome, a humorous drawing of Falstaff and Pistol, and a very charming child-study; the drawing of the Opera House, with two beautiful fans, is executed on a fly-leaf and forms a choice frontispiece to the volume.
