1877. Oct. 13,

Gift of

The Raxcliffe Trustees.

By agreement between the Radcliffe Trustees on the one hand and the University of Oxford on the other, the Scientific Books, the property of the Trustees, were removed on loan to the University Museum. Their Eastern Manuscripts were made a loan to the Bodleian Library. It having been previously ascertained that the Radcliffe Dome could be conveniently and tastefully connected with the Bodleian Library, it was lent to the Bodleian for a Reading Room, having been first warmed and lighted, and thrown open in the evening to all readers. The transfer was made in the year 1861. The use of the Library at the Museum is not confined (as is sometimes stated) to members of the University. All persons can have access to it on conforming to the Regulations.

This Catalogue comprises the Scientific Books contained in the Radcliffe Library up to the end of 1872. From that time a separate Catalogue of Additions is printed annually. These Additions are every year incorporated in the main Catalogue on the Desk of the Library in eight folio volumes.

TRANSACTIONS and PERIODICALS are not inserted. A separate Catalogue of all SERIALS is printed and may be purchased at the Library with the Catalogue of the STUDENTS' LIBRARY.

For the labour connected with the preparation of the Catalogue the Librarian is indebted to the Sub-Librarian and Assistant Sub-Librarians.
