Second Nature: A Gardener's Education

I am a huge fan of Michael Pollan, but I came to this book with low expectations. It was his first book, so I figured he probably had not hit his stride yet. Also, it was about gardening, a subject I was less than enthusiastic about. I want to be interested in gardening, but I wasn't yet.
This book was wonderful. Pollan does his usual job of give you a good history and background to each of his subjects, but his writing in this book seems even better than in other books of his that I have read. The chapter on roses is incredible. I could not believe how interested I was in the chapter about weeds.
Some chapters are better than others, but overall the book was highly entertaining, and very interesting to any aspiring, or reluctant gardener.
